Kenneth Slaught is the president and founder of Investec Real Estate Companies. Since 1983, the firm has grown into the largest real estate development and management business in Santa Barbara County under Slaught’s watch, acquiring over three million square feet of coastal California apartment, office, retail, and self-storage properties. Currently with forty employees, the company oversees over $1 billion in assets and is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management. Investec has also been a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
As President of Investec, Kenny Slaught played an instrumental role in developing the firm’s investment strategies and policies, determining its asset class allocations, and managing its business decisions. Under his visionary leadership, the firm has generated profitable opportunities in times of highly swaying financial markets, leading to Investec’s impeccable reputation inside the property investment community.
An alumnus of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Slaught took a degree in business and economics in 1979, as well as a certification from the California Contractors State License Board, and a California real estate broker’s license also obtained in 1979. Prior to launching Investec, Slaught was a founding partner of the MKS Companies, a firm working in real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage.
In addition to his professional life, Slaught has held leadership positions in many Southern Californian nonprofit organizations. He is currently a board member of the UCSB Foundation, and formerly served on the board of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation; and is a large supporter to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and many high schools in the area.
