Hospice of Santa Barbara provides its services for terminally ill patients as well as their families. A great number of the programs address children who have recently lost a family member. Statistics show that 20 percent of kids face a loss before turning 18, while one in 20 loses at least a parent before reaching 20. Hospice of Santa Barbara’s free programs offer support to those who are grieving. Kenny Slaught believes the initiatives help people avoid depression, post traumatic stress disorder and anxiety.
